Presented by The Owen Family Foundation, the City of Hendersonville, The Carolyn Smith Foundation, and Stoney Stonehocker (in honor & memory of Deborah, his friend and wife of 52 years), Historic Rock Castle will host its highly anticipated Nashville Symphony by the Lake event on the evening of Wednesday, June 7, 2023. This wonderful community experience attracts thousands of guests from throughout the region, is entirely free to attend, and is made possible through the encouragement and generosity of the listed sponsors and stakeholders.

Selected as one of only five sites across the region to host the Nashville Symphony’s Community Concert Series, Rock Castle affords the perfect setting for this novel and exciting symphonic performance, and we cordially invite you to spend this magical evening with us. In addition to the traditional and modern musical masterpieces of the Nashville Symphony, the event’s production will feature two other supporting musical acts (The Magi and Striking Matches), an array of food and beverage options, and an instrument “petting zoo” where children can engage with musicians and grow their interest in the musical arts.

Gates open: 4:00pm

*on-site parking will be available to our event sponsors only. All other guests will have the opportunity to take shuttles from several locations on the Indian Lake peninsula.

Program Starts: 5:00pm and ends at 8:45pm (more details to follow)

Shuttles will begin at 4:00pm from Indian Lake Elementary, Heritage Park (also known as the Batey Farm), and the Indian Lake Road side of Hendersonville High School (Guests may park in both the Cherokee Rd and Indian Lake Rd parking lots of HHS). Last Pick-Up will be at 7:00pm, and shuttles will begin running again at 8:15pm to return guests to their vehicles.

FAQ:

Are dogs allowed? — No, due to extreme space restrictions on Site, and the use of shuttle buses, dogs are not allowed at this event. We also do not want to chance barking during the Symphony performance.
Will there be food and drinks available? — Yes, we will have food trucks, a wine bar, Half Batch Brewing with their local craft beers, and Rock Castle concessions with chips, candy, and drinks.
Can I bring my own food and drinks? — Yes you can, but why lug it in when you can get food and drinks on-site and support local businesses at the same time! NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL is permitted at this event, and NO GLASS bottles/containers.
Will there be seating provided? — Like our Summer Songwriter Nights, this is an outdoor event in a field. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs or a blanket to sit on. NO umbrellas or tents of any kind will be permitted, as they block the view of the guests behind them.
Are there restrooms available? — Yes, we will have portable restrooms, including handicap access.
Is this event handicap accessible? — As much as an event in a field can be. All shuttle buses are handicap accessible. There is no on-site handicap parking, and guests will be required to cross a field to get from the shuttle drop-off to the Symphony seating area. It is fairly level, but still a field. There is not a handicap seating area, as all seating is first come first serve except for event sponsors.
What is the address? — 139 Rock Castle Lane, Hendersonville
Can I see and hear the performance from a boat on the lake? — Absolutely! Thanks to our generous sponsors, there will be speakers and large LED screens down by the water’s edge for guests on boats to enjoy! There is no access to the property by water.
Will there be bounce houses or activities for children? — Due to space constraints, there will not be bounce houses or games. However, the Symphony is bringing their Instrument Petting Zoo so kids of all ages can try their hand at the instruments played by the orchestra!
Can I bring a tent, tables, etc? — Chairs and blankets are of course encouraged for seating, but tents/canopies of any kind will not be permitted, as they block the view of those behind. Bring only what you can easily carry onto the shuttle bus and carry across the field to the seating area.
Will Uber / Lyft rides be allowed to drop off? — Absolutely no vehicles will be allowed entry to the Site without a Rock Castle provided Parking Pass. Uber/Lyft may drop off and pick up on the back side of the property, on Island Drive, but will have to drop off along the road (they will not be able to turn into the property) and we cannot guarantee what traffic will be like on that road.
Can I drive my golf cart to the event? — Golf carts will be treated as regular vehicles and will not be allowed access to the Site without a Rock Castle Parking Pass.
What time does the Symphony performance start? — Shuttles begin running and Gates open at 4pm. The live music starts at 5pm. The Symphony will conclude at 8:45pm. The shuttles will stop running at 7pm no matter what, so we strongly recommend arriving early to ensure you make it on-Site. The Shuttles will begin running again at 8:15pm to return guests to their cars.
